Homestudy update

So today was our homestudy update.

I was a lot better than last time we did this. I didnt over react and freak out that there was a spot here or there. I have 5 children. Excuse the mess my kids are makin memories here :)

Oh but before I get into the actual study we started out the day with the toaster catching fire and the new dryer that we got last night not working. Can you say homestudy day? haha

She ask us all kinds of questions. As she ask about our finances and investments and debt and things I couldnt help but feel 2 things 1- extremely blessed God is so good to us and 2- awkward. Let me explain... She ask us what our giving was each month. We sat down and figured it out and told her, we dont tell people that. Then she ask if we save for retirement..no. Our answer has always been God will take care of our future so we will give freely now. Then she ask if we had any investments. I said yes. We invest in lives daily. We invest in adoptions and orphans. Thats not what she meant but I think that is a way better and more sound investment. I know by worldly standards what we do with our money each month can throw people. I was told not to live of this world. Where my treasure is there my heart will be also. My treasure is in Heaven and orphans. My heart is for the orphan. I would give it all away if it meant one more might live. I dont say that to boast either. So money wise on paper I am sure we look kind of strange.

Then she ask "why down syndrome?" In my head my response was why not? Paul said later at the dinner table 47 chromosomes are better than 46 :) I wish he had thought o that earlier. When she ask how long do we plan to live here Paul blurted out "Until we move." We all started laughing. I couldnt believe it. He is not usually funny. (sorry hunny but its true) I guess the answer is true though.

She ask the kids some questions and ask about the adoption. AJ said "I want a pink brother!" Oh the look on the caseworkers face when AJ said that. LOL. She said" A pink brother????" Yeah and she had better deliver because I wouldnt screw with AJ.

They were all very excited to show off the house. That took 5 minutes. Why did I clean like a maniac? I even made her look at things she didnt ask to see. Dang it I cleaned you will look everywhere. Here wipe my fireplace!!! Its spotless. haha

She ask our parenting philosophy. I said we pray that God undoes all the crap we did wrong :) But seriously we pray for our kids and with our kids and rely heavily on God. We rely on Him to help us make it through the day, to help with the finances, to help me be able to teach these children what they are meant to learn. She ask why adopt? God commanded us to. Most of the questions if not all had God as the answer. I hope that doesnt make us seem like we don't care. It is the honest truth. I wouldnt get through any of these days without God helping me.

The whole thing took hmmm....an hour and a half maybe. It was very nice and the case worker is just wonderful. I did eel like we didnt talk much but I hope we got our point across.

Paul said he was open to siblings as long as at least one had DS. I ask Noah if he wanted a brother and the shock and awe response he does so well every.single.time.I ask he did not do until she left. Stinker! But all in all I say it was a good visit. So she said she would write it up and send it to the child's case worker that we would like to adopt along with our picture books we made for them to see. So..there ya have it.

To celebrate we went out after dinner to Yum E a fro yo place and loaded up on the toppings! It was a great day. I can not wait to meet my son! God's got this! To Him be the glory great things he has done!!

Leap Day

The 29th at 4pm will be our homestudy. It seems as though it is all happening so fast but yet we have been in this process for almost 5 months. So right now we are all cleaning up and making things pretty. 4 days until the update. Wow.

It is hard to do much still because of my surgery. Recovery has been slow and rough. But I can do ALL things through Christ who gives me strength.

Now I have to go off to more cleaning but wanted to update on the homestudy date.

Homestudy Date

We should have our homestudy update on March 1st. Yay!

So something weird happened. Yesterday in the mail we got our Child abuse clearances back. They had big highlighter on them and said NOT SIGNED. Wow really! I know we signed them. I signed mine in the car and then handed Paul his to sign. Apparently my memory is off. But I had a thought... no matter what satan does to try to deter us our yes will remain. We will adopt. It is God's command.

So I signed mine and Paul signed his and they are back in the mail headed back to PA. A slight hiccup. Another hiccup was my surgery and infection and week long stay in the hospital. Now AJ has strep. We have been so focused on sicknesses in this house that we can't get the rest of the adoption stuff done.

We are praying that no one else gets sick and that AJ and I heal fully and fast.

Paused

Check out the fun things we are doing in the house.

I think I am nesting haha. Maybe Paul and I both are? Can men nest? Paul built my beautiful dining room table and benches. They are stunning. I will have to get a final pic up soon. Now Paul is cutting all the boards for a high chair for Noah. I am going to put it all together...or at least try. Haha

All things adoption have paused for a minute. We are waiting for some clearances to come back then we should be a go. A lot in the adoption area is going on "behind the scenes" We are open to what ever God asks of us. I can't wait to see the journey He takes us on. We have said YES and we mean it.

A minor setback

We are pushing ahead and feel very good about adopting again. Then 3 days ago I had some bleeding and pain. I called the doctor and his office said they could squeeze me in but then they wanted so much I money I couldnt go to the doctor.

I called them again and begged. Please I need to see a doctor, can you please bill me? No. There wasnt even an i'm sorry we cant just a flat out no! I had no other choice I had to go to the ER.

When I got there I told the doctor what was going on he said, "You need to go see your gyn." Oh geeze thanks I hadnt thought of that! Ugh.

They got me on an iv,, pain meds and made me drink something they lovingly referred to as "dirty water"So yummy!

Well half way though that I had the most immense pain of my life. I kept calling for a nurse but no answer. Call button didnt work and I was starting to freak out. I tried calming myself down. My friend called me and I couldnt talk I was crying so much. I didnt even have to ask, she drove down to the hospital to be with me. The er doc was not a funny carefree guy. He was strict and matter of fact and no bedside manner.

Well after a long night I was sent home with strict instructions. Nothing to eat or drink, call dr immediately ay am and speak to no one but him or his nurse. I did so and then my doctor called me and told me to come in. I told him I didnt have the money. He said not to worry about it and get in there asap.

After a very painful examination he sent me straight to the hospital for surgery. Several different surgeries all in one. I called Paul. He was on his way. Our dear friends Shelly and Brian told us they would keep our kids overnight and wouldnt take no for an answer. They have 7 great kids and are adopting 2 more. This family is awesome! I owe them big time!!

Charidy was crying so hard. She doent like it when I am away and in the hospital. It all started when I had to go to have a baby. The doctor just gave me some pills o bare with me in this blog. Anyways back to Cherry. I talked to her and prayed with her.

The surgery went well, I am in a lot of pain but its ok. Just peed straight blood and I cant see the screen anymore so I will update again when I can.
